Lavani, a vibrant and soulful genre of music and dance, performed by skilled Lavani Dance Artists, originates from the heartland of Maharashtra. This captivating art form, which flourished in the 18th and 19th centuries under the patronage of Maratha lords and kings, is celebrated for its dynamic rhythm and evocative storytelling. This includes the ‘Thushi’ (necklace), ‘Bormaal’, ‘Pohehaar’, ‘Zumka’ (earrings), ‘Ghungru’ (anklets), ‘Kamarpatta’ (waist belt), bangles, and Sindoor, with a prominent dark red bindi gracing their foreheads. The traditional Nauvari saree, wrapped uniquely and comfortably, allows the dancers to move with grace and agility, enhancing the visual appeal of the performance.
